As many of you are aware, for the last two and one-half years I have been a member of the LEOFF I Coalition Board of Directors. In that capacity, I represent the members of the Retired Seattle Police Officers’ Association. Additionally I am the President of the Retired Seattle Police Officers’ Association.

Since LEOFF1.Net has often been critical of certain actions or omissions on the part of the Coalition there has always been a level of tension with the Coalition.

The tension level has escalated to the point that it is adversely affecting my ability to represent the members of the Retired Seattle Police Officers’ Association within the Coalition.

The core difference is that I feel that every LEOFF 1 member should have easy access to information about our pension and any issues that might affect the pension. I believe that thoughtful people can hold differing views about issues and can advocate different solutions to problems. I believe that you can only determine the appropriate course of action if you are well informed about issues.

In contrast, the Coalition has elected to keep information secret and edit any publication of information for fear that it will somehow negatively affect their ability to deal with the legislature and other entities.

In an effort to reduce these tensions, I am taking LEOFF1.Net offline. I hope that this will enable me to better represent the RSPOA members.

I will maintain our email list and will continue to notify subscribers of issues that might affect your pension.  Hopefully we will be able to resolve some of these issues in the near future.  If so I will put the site back online.
